BIOTECHNOLOGY LABORATORY (BLU)

The BLU provides testing services in a wide range of matrices such as foods, beverages, water, cosmetics etc.

The Microbiology laboratory operates in accordance with the International Standard, ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, to determine the adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) methods and to evaluate knowledge, attitudes, and practices of foodservices staff with regard to food hygiene at any stage of food production or food supply chain. Microbiology testing should be viewed as a means of verifying that HACCP controls are working as intended.

Role of microbiology testing in food and non-food production and supply chain:

  • Non-food and/or food testing provides an invaluable tool for management organs of the food production and food supply chains companies or institutions at all levels of food production and supply chain.

  • The key to effective use of microbiological test data is the establishment of a systematic program of testing of microbial load of products at the critical stage of production line, and the microbial load of the environment in which these products are processed, produced, stored and transported.
