Attached is the Press Release by the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) on the African Union Head of States Ceremony for the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the AU Extraordinary Summit on 21st March 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda. The AfCFTA Deal gives Africa the opportunity for deeper integration, increased intra-African Trade and sustainable economic development, however the challenge of the Non-Tariff Barriers, especially the Technical Barriers to Trade, remain.
ARSO highlights the importance of the AfCFTA and the role of Quality Infrastructure (Governance bodies: NSBs, ARSO, PAQI) in its implementation in the attached Press Release, together with the list of the Signatory States, for your attention, ahead of the 24th ARSO GA events which give the platform for more discussions on the topic as per the theme of the Events.
