AWARENESS WORKSHOP FOR ROOFING SHEETS AND STEEL BARS

The awareness workshop took place 12 June 2018 in HILLTOP Hotel and launched by Mr Samuel MPORANZI, the director of Engineering and urban planning Unit. Within the framework of raising awareness to stakeholders on effective implementation of standards, the Rwanda standards board prepared an awareness workshop on effective use of standardized roofing sheets and steel bars with the purpose of ensuring safety (environmental and health) and limit unnecessary extra cost.

During the workshop the following themes will be discussed on to take measures towards standard implementation:

  • What are the major challenges for implementing the standardization in manufacturing of construction materials?
  • How standardization can significantly reduce current challenges caused with the use of substandard product (construction materials)?

The following outcomes are expected to enable beneficiaries to take action on a way forward:

  • Manufacturers to start complying with the standards specifications and requirement to manufacture high quality products; and
  • Construction dealers/importers will be aware of the consequences associated with the use of substandard construction materials (roofing sheets and steels bars)
  • Quality inspectors will know the technical specifications to be considered during inspection.
