Honourable Minister of Trade, Industry and East African Community Affairs Visits RSB
Dr. Emile Bienvenu, RSB Board of Directors Chairman delivers welcome remarks
Today, December 5th, 2016, Honourable Minister of Trade, Industry and East African Community Affairs (MINEACOM), accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, other Senior Officials at the Ministry and Directors of affiliated institutions to MINEACOM have paid visit to Rwanda Standards Board (RSB).
The Minister has been welcomed by RSB Board of Directors and Management. In his welcome remarks, the Board of Directors Chairman, Dr. Emile Bienvenu, expressed his gratitude to the visit and explained it is an opportunity to share achievements registered in standardization and acquire advice towards continual improvement in daily mission of the institution.
Director General of RSB shares with Hon. Minister and Delegation an overview of RSB
The Director General of RSB, Mr. Raymond Murenzi, presented to Hon. Minister the overview update on RSB performance namely progress in standards development, conformity assessment (testing for quality and safety, certification) and particularly updated visitors on the progress of implementation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP). Also, the DG notified Hon. Minister and visitors of the status of Quality Assurance in Rwanda, proposed measures to be taken and RSB Strategic Plan 2013/2018.

Honourable Minister commended RSB achievements in standardization: “The Ministry and the country are proud of achievements registered in standardization. Your contribution has enabled trade development, cross-border goods exchange and making Rwanda a business friendly environment. We request you to do even better and take part in fast-tracking of industry development and make standardization an opportunity in doing business in general.”
He noted that the MINEACOM is ready to help seek solutions to existing challenges and whenever necessary make advocacy in relevant institutions.
