The Permanent Secretary was welcomed by RSB Director General and Management. In his welcome remarks, Mr. Raymond Murenzi, Director General, expressed gratitude to the Permanent Secretary for the visit and explained that it is an opportunity for RSB to share the overview of RSB activities in general, achievements registered in standardization and to receive advice that would support continual improvement in day-to-day implementation of RSB mandate. The Permanent Secretary informed that the achievements registered in standardization over the last fifteen years are commendable and MINEACOM is ready to continue supporting improvement and expansion of standardization services offered by RSB. She noted that Rwanda has launched Made in Rwanda campaign to promote quality of domestic products and ensure their competitiveness on local, regional and international markets. Standards are benchmarks for making that campaign a success. She reiterated that standards are ranked among the pillars of trade growth and elimination of trade imbalance, and mindset change is needed for those who view standards as barrier to industry growth rather than an opportunity.

The Permanent Secretary’s visit came to an end with a tour of RSB standards development, quality testing and Metrology laboratories.
