Rwanda Hosts the AFSEC Technical Committee Meeting on Electrical Installation and Protection against Electric Shocks

African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission (AFSEC), is the African leading organization that prepares and publishes Standards for electrical, electronic and related technologies. AFSEC has a primary responsibility of prioritization, development and harmonization of standards in Electricity and Electronics fields at African level in collaboration with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The standards are developed through the Technical Committee (TC) whereby physical meetings are conducted to discuss and come up with consensus on the standards to be recommended for harmonization at regional level within AFSEC’s country members.

From 30th to 31st August 2016 at Nobleza Hotel, in Kigali; in collaboration with AFSEC Secretariat, Rwanda hosts two days meeting of the AFSEC TC 64 on Electrical Installation and protection against electric shocks. The aim of the meeting is to discuss and recommend the harmonization of IEC standards on low voltage electrical installation taking into consideration safety, selection and erection of equipments, requirements for specific installations, energy efficiency and protection against electrical hazards

The main objective of the TC is to establish a self-sustaining electrical installation standards committee to make recommendations to AFSEC for common adoption by members across Africa to enhance safety.
