We ask everyone applying to demonstrate your competence in the current version of the relevant standard(s).
Associate Auditor
Eligible you have passed an implementation of the relevant management system standard and internal audit training course, but do not yet meet the audit requirements of your desired grade.
Criteria
Education
Having at least minimum Diploma in relevant field of application
Training
Have attended a introduction and implementation courses on the desired scheme and passed an Internal Auditor training course based on 19011.
or
Passed a certified Auditor/Lead Auditor course
or
Passed a relevant certified auditor conversion course (if auditor/lead auditor in another scheme)
Internal Auditor
Suitable if you conduct internal ‘partial system’ audits of your own organisation’s management system, or a supplier’s management system.
Additional requirements per scheme
Education
Having at least minimum Diploma in relevant field of application
Management system work experience
At least 12 months of work related to implementing or auditing management systems
Training
You must have successfully completed:
Foundation course for the relevant scope and internal Auditor Training course
or
A relevant Certified Lead Auditor Training course (if applicable).
Auditing experience
You must have successfully completed a minimum of 3 internal audits all of which:
Were of a minimum duration of six hours
Included all elements of the audit cycle
Did not involve business areas or activities in which you work.
Were conducted after successful completion of implementation course of the relevant standard and internal audit training courses
Were conducted within the 3 years of the date of your application
In total, your audit experience must be a minimum of two audit days.
Work experience
At least 6 months of work in company implementing management system
Auditor
You are eligible if you mainly conduct ‘full system’ audits, either as a member of a team or as a sole auditor. They may be internal full system audits, second-party or third-party audits.
Criteria
Education
Having minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of application.
Management system work experience
At least 12 months of work related to implementing or auditing management systems
Training
You must have passed:
A Certified Auditor/Lead Auditor course from a recognized and registered service
or
A relevant Certified Auditor/Lead Auditor conversion course (if you are an Auditor/Lead Auditor in another scheme with prerequisite/foundation course in the scheme you want to be certified) from a recognized and registered service
Have complete a training course on 17021(for third party audits)
Auditing experience
You must have participated and successfully completed a minimum of four quality management system audits which:
Cover all elements of the audit cycle
Amount to a minimum of 15 days
Include a minimum of 12 days on site.
Audits must have been performed:
After passing the relevant Certified training course
Within 3 years of the date of the application
At least 2 of these audits must be initial or re-certification.
Work experience
At least 6 months of work in company implementing management system
Additional requirements per scheme
Lead Auditor
suitable for persons who are competent in conducting ‘full quality management system’ audits and are experienced in leading audit teams.
Criteria
Education
Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Training
You must have passed: A Certified Auditor/Lead Auditor course
or
A relevant Certified Auditor/Lead Auditor conversion course (if you are an Auditor/Lead Auditor in another scheme),
And
Have complete a training course on 17021. (for third party audits)
Management system/professional experience
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the implementation, operation, and/or auditing of quality management system.
Auditing experience
You must meet the audit requirements of the Auditor level.
In addition, must have also:
Conducted three full quality management system audits as leader of an audit team,
That are a minimum of 12 days in total
With a minimum of 8 days on site.
Audits must have been performed:
After passing a Certified Training Course
Within 3 years of date of application
Work experience
At least 1 year of work in company implementing management system
Additional requirements per scheme
Principal Auditor
Suitable for persons who are senior audit-professionals with an extensive history of conducting audits, but may no longer lead teams or audit regularly. Principal auditors have often moved into other roles such audit managers, certification managers, audit training and development personnel (including quality management system auditor training course designers), and persons involved in the development of relevant audit and management system standards (such as ISO 19011), consultancy on management system auditing.
It offers highly skilled and experienced auditing professionals’ continued recognition without them being required to complete audits, which may no longer be a major part of their role.
Criteria
Education
Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
You must meet one of the following criteria:
Verifiable evidence of current employment as one of the following:
1. Evidence of three years’ full-time employment as a quality management systems auditor with an accredited certification body (or demonstrable and significant evidence of contracted third-party audits)
or
2. A minimum of five years as a Certified Lead Auditor (for the relevant scheme)
and
Manager of audit programmes/schemes;
Responsible for developing and training auditors;
Involved in developing audit method and standards;
Consultancy in respect of management systems auditing;
Other senior roles may be considered upon application.
